Jim Loose is of Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Kahugunu iwi and also Moeraki rūnaka. Jim was educated at St Peters College in Gore.
Jim farms a 390 hectare 4000 stock unit sheep and beef fattening unit based at Waitahuna and have a wide share and investment portfolio.
Jims recreational interests are his family, camping, both salt and fresh water fishing. Jim has a strong interest in Environmental and Economic issues.
