Aukaha originates from : kia kaha, au kaha - Unite, bind together

Two men engaged in lashing, would say "kia kaha" so he pushed the line through and then as both pulled together the other would say "au kaha"

Aukaha is mandated by kā Rūnaka to work on behalf of Manawhenua in the area of environmental health.(Beattie 1920b)

A good phrase to encourage people to unite and bind/work together

Aukaha is a stand-alone commercial consultancy and is independent of regional and district councils. The consultancy provides an efficient and timely service to clients on a user pays basis.

Aukaha has protocols with the Otago Regional Council and all district councils in Otago, which set out the process for facilitating Kāi Tahu engagement in the councils’ resource consent and plan change processes.

We believe this name reflects our way of working. Aukaha is well positioned to continue to grow from a sound base to serve its shareholders and clients. You will notice our logo has remained the same, this is a further reflection of our work and the interaction between the land and water, both of which in a healthy state are vital for our future.
