Dr Sharleen Howison –  iwi Tuhoe

Sharleen is a Principal Lecturer in the College of Enterprise and Development at Otago Polytechnic in the business area.

She has worked at the Otago Polytechnic for over 20 years and loves the challenge of working with and helping her students to achieve their dreams in their future careers and workplaces.

Her main teaching and research focus is around tourism and events management and she is also the Māori and Pacific Island contact in the college.  This work role places her in contact with a large number of businesses locally, regionally and nationally and she is currently working on research with a focus around Māori business and cultural tourism.

Sharleen is married to Colin with two adult children Josh and Laura who are currently working and living in Australia.

Sharleen’s passion for business, tourism and the place that Māori hold in these areas has brought her to KUMA where she has been engaged in networking, participation and collaboration within the membership.
